Jubo league activist stabbed to death in Pabna; 3 arrested

Pabna, Sept 4 (UNB)-A Jubo league activist was stabbed to death by his rivals following factional feud near Nandita Cinema Hall in Sujanagar upazila on Friday night.

The deceased was identified as Abu Bakkar Khan, 35, son of Abdur Razzaque Khan of Hugladangi village of Sadar upazila.

Police said a gang of 15/20 armed criminals swooped on Bakkar at about 10.30 pm when he was crossing the cinema hall. The miscreants stabbed him indiscriminately with sharp weapons, leaving him injured.

Bakkar was taken to Pabna General Hospital at about 11.15 pm where the attending doctor declared him dead.

Police arrested Mantu, Osman, and Santosh in this connection Bakkar mentioned the name of the killers before he breathed his last, said police.

A procession was brought out by the supporters of Awami league Sujanagar upazila unit president Abul Kashem demanding punishment to the killers.

Additional police have been deployed to avert any untoward situation.

Local source said Bakkar might have been murdered following a longstanding dispute between the AL Sunjanagar uapzila unit president Abul Kashem and general secretary Abdul Ohab.
