8 killed, 22 injured in separate road crash in Ctg, Comilla

Dhaka, Sept 4 (UNB) - Eight people were killed and 22 others injured in separate road accidents in Chittagong and Comilla districts today (Saturday).

In Chittagong, three people were killed and 10 others injured as a bus rammed into an autorickshaw at Anwara road in Patia upazila.

The deceased were identified as Jahida Akther, 35, and her daughter Shahanu, 4, and an unidentified bus passenger of Deyang village in Patia upazila.

Witnesses said a Patia bound bus hit the auto-rickshaw at around 1:30 pm, leaving them dead on the spot and 10 bus passengers injured.

The injured were admitted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital.

Another report from Comilla adds: Two unidentified motorcyclists were killed when a Chittagong-bound bus rammed into their Dhaka-bound motorbike at Kutumbopur in Chandina upazila on Dhaka-Chittagong highway at around 1:15 pm.

In another incident, two pedestrians were killed and 10 bus passengers injured when a Dhaka-bound bus ran over the two people and then crashed into a tree near Kutumbopur in the same upazila.

Witnesses said the bus driver lost control over the steering while overtaking another bus, leaving two pedestrians dead on the spot.

The deceased were identified as Shafiuddin, 52, and Monwara Begam, 50, of Kutumbopur village in Chandina upazila.

The injured were admitted to different hospitals including.

Earlier, an unidentified private car passenger was killed and two others were injured when a bus rammed into their car at Coatbari in sadar south upazila at 11 am.

The injured were admitted to Comilla Medical College Hospital.
