4 killed in separate road accidents

Dhaka, Sept 5 (UNB) - Four people, including two minor boys, were killed in separate road crashes in Chuadanga, Chapainawabganj, Benapole and Brahmanbaria on Saturday.

In Chuadanga, police and locals said a speedy truck hit a motorbike rider from behind leaving him dead on the spot at Bhalaipur on Chadanga-Meherpur road here at about 9am.

The deceased was identified as Tuhin Hasan, 23, son of Amir Master of village Puraton Darbeshpur in Meherpur district.

Local people blocked the road for about an hour protesting the accident. Police later brought the situation under control.

In Chapainawabganj, a woman while crossing the road at Noyagola in Sadar municipality was run over and killed by a fish laden trolley at about 10am.

The deceased was identified as Gendi Begum, 65, wife of Tahir Mandol of village north Bhabanipur in the municipality.

After the accident the driver lost control over the steering and the trolley rammed into a roadside tree leaving pedestrian Sharif critically injured. He was admitted to a local hospital.

In Benapole, a minor schoolboy was killed as a Jessore bound passenger bus ran over him at Jamtola bazaar on Jessore-Benapole road at noon when he was crossing the road.

The deceased was identified as Russell, 8, son of Nazrul Islam of village Samta in Sharsha upazila, also a student of class two.

Police seized the bus but its driver and helper however, managed to flee. Locals blocked the road for about two hours protesting the accident.

In Brahmanbaria, a Sylhet bound passenger bus dashed an unidentified minor boy aged about 7 leaving him dead on the spot at Islampur on Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Bijoynagar upazila in the morning.
