Sirajganj, Sept 5 (UNB) - A young man was stabbed to death by his co-villager over a trifling matter at Brahmanbaria in Raiganj upazila on Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Shahin, 27, son of Mizanur Rahman of same village.

Police said Shahin was smoking at a bazaar of the village openly during daytime in holy month of Ramadan at about 5:30pm on Saturday.

Seeing this, his co-villager Nazrul Islam, son of Nurul Islam, protested the open smoking, which resulted in an altercation between them.

At one stage, Nazrul hit Shahin with a sharp weapon, leaving him injured.

The injured was rushed to Sadar Hospital and later shifted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where he died at noon Sunday.
