Dhaka, Sep 5 (UNB)- Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan on Sunday said steps had been taken so that no goods are loaded in trucks, accept essentials commodities, for three days before and after the Eid to avert traffic jam and smooth journey of home bound people.
The decision was taken at a meeting with a delegation of Bangladesh Truck-Covered van owners samity led by its president Mahbub Chowdhury Santu today, said an official handout.
It said a tripartite committee is being formed to curb irregularities at ferry ghats as well as to ensure uninterrupted ferry services.
Steps are underway to increase the number of launch services and bus services on different routes.
The Minister sought active cooperation of all concerned to avert traffic jam and ensure smooth journey of home goers during the Eid vacation.
