8 robbers arrested in C’nawabganj

Chapainawabganj, Sept 6 (UNB) - Local people after a hot chase caught eight robbers while fleeing after looting valuables from a house at Biana village in Gomostapur upazila early Monday.

Later, after good thrashing the robbers identified as Rezaul, 32, Nantu, 30, Robu, 28, Ismail, 35, Vutu, 33, Sariful 32 and Sadek, 40, and Taher, 28, were handed over to the police.

Villagers said a gang of robbers numbering 20/22 stormed into the house of Khorshed Ali at about 2am and looted Tk 4000 in cash, five tolas of gold ornaments and other valuables taking the house inmates hostage at gun point.

They said hearing the hue and cry of the house inmates they rushed to the spot and after a hot chase caught eight of the fleeing bandits.

A case was filed.
