News - Weekly Tea Sale sees strong demand despite large offerings

Chittagong, Sept 6 (UNB) - The weekly tea sale - the last of Ramadan - despite large offerings on Tuesday witnessed a strong demand with teas being well absorbed at firm rates.

According to a market report, Blenders were competing strongly whilst there was fair interest from the Loose Tea buyers. Dusts were a good market.

CTC LEAF: 24,825 packages and 285 packages of Old Season on offer met with a fairly strong demand at slightly easier rates.

BROKENS: Good liquoring small Brokens were in good demand and sold well although easing by Tk 1/-to Tk 2/- from previous levels and these could be quoted between Tk 195/- and Tk 201/-. The medium varieties were also a little easier but larger types were often discounted by up to Tk 5/-

FANNINGS: Good liquoring clean Fannings met with a strong market and sold well although were easier by Tk 1/- to Tk 2/- and these could be quoted between Tk 196/- and Tk 200/-. Medium varieties were a fairly firm market whilst plainer types often declined a little.

CTC DUST: 3,407 packages on offer met with a good demand. Good liquoring RDs were a good market and were mostly dearer often by up to Tk 3/-. Ds were also a good market and were generally firm to slightly dearer. Best CDs were quite a good market but were easier.

All Medium varieties sold at around last levels. Once again Blenders were active with good support from the Loose Tea buyers.
