10 people killed in separate accidents in four districts

Dhaka, Sept 6 (UNB) - Ten people died in separate road accidents in Chittagong, Gazipur, Thakurgaon and Sherpur on Monday.

In Chittagong, three people were killed in a road crash at Satyapeer Mazar area on Chittagong-Kaptai road in Rangunia upazila Monday afternoon.

Police said a Chittagong-bound passenger bus from Kaptai collided head on with a CNG-run auto rickshaw at about 3pm leaving its driver Mohammad Alamgir, 30, died in Chittagong Medical College Hospital. Passengers Sabur, 27 and another unidentified old man, 60 died at Rangunia upazila health complex at about 5pm.

Police seized the bus and auto rickshaw.

In Gazipur, three people including a child were killed in two separate road crashes at Kaliakoir upazila and Sreepur upazila on Monday.

Police and locals said Shamsul Haque, 70 and his grand son Shihab, 5 were crushed under wheels of a Dhaka bound Sundarban Express train from Khulna at Goalbathan village in Kaliakoir upazila at about 9am.

In another incident, Mamtaz Begum, 35, was killed when a Dhaka bound passenger bus ran over him at Mawna Chourasta in Sreepur upazila on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in the morning.

In Thakurgaon, three motorcyclists were killed in separate accidents in Sadar upazila and Haripur upazila Monday.

Police and witnesses said Rupban Rani, 40, fell from motorcycle and got injured Sunday afternoon when she was going to her home along with her son-in-law by the motorcycle at Madhupur village in sadar upazila. She was admitted into Thakurgaon general hospital where she died on Monday morning.

Motorcyclist Robi, 32, son of Pabitra Kumar was injured when he lost control over his bike and rammed into a wall near his house at Jalali village in sadar upazila in the evening. Robi died in Thakurgaon General Hospital on Monday morning.

Motorcyclist Nasibul Alam, 24, son of Khalilur Rahman lost control over the motorcycle and smashed into a roadside tree leaving him critical injured on Sunday noon at Jadabpur village in Haripur upazila. He died on way to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital.

In Sherpur, another motorcyclist was killed and three others were injured at Barmaisa village on Nakla-Barmaisa road in Nakla upzila Sunday midnight.

Police and locals said driver of a hired motorcycle bearing three passengers lost control over it and skidded off on the road at about 12:30am leaving its passengers Badal Mia, 42 dead on the spot and Ratan Mia, 35, Masum, 35 and Khairul Mia, 25 critical injured at near Nakla bazaar.

The injured were admitted into Mymensingh Medical College Hospital with serious injuries.
