30 injured in clash over road construction in Sunamganj

Sunamganj, Sept 6 (UNB) - At least 30 people were injured in a clash between two groups of villagers over construction of a road at Rajaniline village in North Bargal union under Tahirpur upazila on Monday afternoon.

Of the injured, Moti Mia, 36, Latif Mia, 40, Majnu Mia, 32, Atiqur Rahman, 25, Kala Mia, 65, Alamgir, 16, and Saiful, 18, were admitted at Tahirpur upazila health complex with serious injuries.

Locals said the two rival groups, one led by Moti Mia and the other by Hassan Ali locked in a fierce clash at 4pm after over construction of a road in the village.

Both groups used homemade lethal weapons during the hour-long clash that left at least 30 wounded on both sides.

The other injured took first aid in local medicine centers.

A tense situation was prevailing at the village.
