Dhaka, Sept 7 (UNB) - Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid on Tuesday expressed concern to learn that teachers and employees of non-government educational institutions failed to withdraw salary and festival bonus in many places ahead of the Eid-ul-Fitr.
Nahid in a statement said the salary cheques of non- government teachers and employees for August and festival bonus cheques were handed over to Sonali Bank, Agrani Bank, Janata Bank and Rupani Bank on August 26 and August 29 respectively.
“But, I am worried to know that teachers and employees could not withdraw their money from Banks in many places,” he said.
The Education Minister today held meeting with the Governor of Bangladesh Bank and the Chairmen of schedule banks to address the problem.
Bangladesh Bank gave directives to the scheduled banks to offer after-hour services tomorrow (Wednesday) and Thursday for school and Madrasa teachers so they can withdraw their salary and other benefit before the Eid.
