Fugitive convict arrested along with arms in Comilla

Comilla, Sept 8 (UNB) - A fugitive convict was arrested along with arms from an auto-rickshaw on Gouripur-Homna road in Titas upazila on Monday night.

The arrested was identified as Nazmul Huda Talukder Nishu, 28, son of Golam Mostafa of Akur Takurpara village in Tangail Sadar upazila.

Police said a team of patrol police raided the Homna bound CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Daudkandi power sub-station area on Gouripur-Homna road at about 8pm and arrested Nishu along with a foreign made revolver and eight rounds of bullet.

Tangail Sadar thana police said Nishu was sentenced to two and half years rigorous imprisonment recently in absentia by a court in an arms case.

In another drive, RAB-11, in a drive recovered 590 bottles of phensidyl syrup in an abandoned condition from a field near Amanganda bridge in Chauddagram upazila on Monday night.
