A lawmaker among 10 injured in an attack by miscreants in Noakhali

Noakhali, Sept 7 (UNB) - Ten people, including Engineer Fazlul Azim, MP, was injured in an attack by miscreants at Boarchar in Hatiya upazila on Wednesday.

Lawmaker’s personal secretary Afsar Uddin said about 500 people, known as supporters of ex-MP Mohammad Ali, attacked a convoy carrying Azim when he along with others reached Chairman Ghat for crossing the ghat by ferry.

Azim, lawmaker from Noakhali-6 constituency, came under attack at about 10am while he was going to Hatiya from Maijdee.

The attackers damaged three vehicles and hurled brickbats, leaving 10, including the lawmaker, injured.

Lawmaker’s personal secretary Afsar Uddin, lawmaker’s son Farhaan, Himel and APS to the lawmaker Zakir sustained minor injuries in the attack.

Hatiya Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Harunur Rashid, who was incidentally present near the spot, informed police, who rushed in and brought the situation under control.

The injured were given first aid.

The lawmaker later managed to reach his home at Uchkhali in Hatiya.
