News - DMP Commissioner denies allegations of extortion
Dhaka, Sep 8 (UNB)-Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner AKM Shahidul Haque on Thursday denied the allegation of extortion by police, terming it as motivated.

The Commissioner made the remark after visiting Kamalapur railway station to oversee overall situation in the station.

He said nobody brings the allegation against police when intelligence agencies carry out field investigation.


“The allegation against the police on charges of extortion are being made intentionally,” The Commissioner said.

Haque said overall law and order situation, except a few incidents, is better in the capital.

He said police has already received instructions to remain alert. He requested city dwellers to inform police immediately if any chaos occurs in the city.

Senior police officers were present during his visit of Kamalapur.
