News - Eid-ul-Fitr to be observed in Bangladesh on Saturday

Dhaka, Sept 10 (UNB) – The holy Eid-ul-Fitr, one of the biggest religious festivals of the Muslims, will be celebrated across the country on Saturday.

Muslims will join the Eid-ul-Fitr congregations seeking divine blessings for peace, progress and prosperity of the country and the nation as well as the Muslim ummah.

Preparations have been made for holding Eid congregations in the capital and at different places of the country.

In capital Dhaka, the main Eid congregation will be held at the National Eidgah at 8:30am.

Five Eid congregations will be held at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque - 7:30am, 8:30am, 9:30am, 10:30am and 11:15am.

Besides, Eid congregations will also be held in Eidgahs and most of the mosques in the city.

The biggest Eid congregation of the country will be held at Sholakia Eidgah in Kishoreganj district.

Tens of thousands of people have already left the capital for their homes to celebrate the Eid with the loved ones.

The national flag will be hoisted atop government and non-government offices on the occasion. Main city streets will be decorated with miniature flags inscribed with “Eid Mubarak” in Bengali and Arabic.

The holy Eid-ul-Fitr will also be celebrated at the Bangladesh missions abroad.

On the Eid day, special diets will be served in hospitals, jails, government-run orphanages, homes for the socially handicapped and vagabonds and shelter homes for the destitute.

The Shishu Park in the city will remain open for the underprivileged children on Eid day. Cultural functions, friendly football matches and Eid gatherings of children will also be held across the country.

State-owned Bangladesh Betar and Bangladesh Television as well as private television channels and radio stations will broadcast special programmes on the occasion.
