Dhaka, Sept 10 (UNB) - A small trader sustained bullet injury as muggers shot at him while taking away his valuables in city’s Paltan area early Friday.

Police quoting witnesses said Mohammad Ali, 35, who runs a small shop in front of ‘Mitali Hotel’ in city’s Motijheel area, was waiting for a vehicle near the Photo Journalists Association office at Purana Paltan on way to his village home in Comilla to celebrate Eid.

Suddenly, a gang of 3-4 muggers appeared on the spot in a private car and tried to snatch away Ali’s valuables at about 3:45 am.

As Ali tried to resist the muggers, they fired at him and fled the scene taking away his valuables, including a mobile phone set.

Later, Ali, with bullet wound on his left chest, was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. He was still unconscious when the report was filed at 5:55 pm today.
