News - Insurance companies urged to build trust among common people
Dhaka, Oct 12 (UNB) - Planning Minister Air Vice Marshal (retd) AK Khandker has urged insurance companies operating in the country to uphold their image among the people by projecting their positive aspects properly.

“Common people have a negative concept about insurance…the insurance companies should emphasize projecting positive aspects of insurance among the people of the country,” he said.

Minister Khandker made the remark while addressing a seminar on ‘Role of Micro-insurance in eradicating poverty’ held at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) in the city on Tuesday.

Rehabilitation and Development Organization for Landless (RDOL), a social development organization, arranged the seminar where Moslehuddin Ahmad presented the keynote paper.

AK Khandker said: “Poor people always live at risk…they become helpless by falling into big financial losses. In such cases, they might relieve their frustration by taking out a micro-insurance policy.”

He urged private organizations to come forward in improving the socio-economic condition of the common people of the country.

RDOL secretary general Syed Hasanuzzaman Loton presided over the seminar, among others, addressed by Prof M Ali Ashraf MP, Asma Jerin Jhumu MP and Jibon Bima Corporation Chairman Dr M Sohrab Uddin.
