
Dhaka, Nov 30 (UNB) - The World AIDS Day will be observed tomorrow in the country as elsewhere in the world.
Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has chalked out an elaborate program to observe the day in a befitting manner. Different socio-cultural organisations will also be undertaking separate program alongside the government.
President Zillur Rahman and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina issued separate messages on the eve of the day.
In his message, President Zillur Rahman termed AIDS as a serious threat to the whole of mankind, and said this problem has been hindering the country's socio- economic development.
"I do believe that if we maintain religious rules and strengthen family relations, in the process checking social decay, we will able to check the spread of the disease” said the President.
He also urged the countrymen to build up strong social resistance against the disease.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in her message, said the present government is committed to checking the spread of the disease, although the infection rate of AIDS is relatively lower in the country.
She said that various measures had already been taken to check the deadly disease.
Sheikh Hasina asked leaders of all sections of the people to create mass awareness against the disease.
