Sangsad Bhaban, Dec 7 (UNB) - Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid on Tuesday informed the House that the free textbooks would reach all schools across the country by December 24. Replying to a supplementary question of Muhibur Rahman Manik (Sunamganj-5), Nahid said the textbooks would reach all districts by December 15. “Textbooks have already reached many districts.” Nahid said the textbooks would be distributed among the students in January. He asked the members of parliament (MPs) to go to their respective areas and take part in book distribution ceremony. “The day will turn into a festival.” He informed that more than 23.20 crore books would be distributed among more than 3.2 crore students for the 2011 academic year. Replying to another question of Begum Nur-e-Hasna Lily Chowdhury (Women Seat-43), Nahid said the government would incorporate special chapter in the textbooks to create awareness among the students about eve-teasing from the academic session 2012.
