2 garment factories closed sine die for labour unrest in Savar

Savar, Jan 9 (UNB) - Two garment factories in Jamgara area were closed for indefinite period on Saturday night and Sunday following labour unrest.

Police said Universe Knitting Factory was closed on Sunday as its workers were staging demonstration, including work stoppage, in the last three days protesting retrenchment of 32 workers.

In another incident, the authorities on Saturday night closed Modina Apparels Fashion Caps as about 700 workers were agitating, including work stoppage, in the last two days protesting dismissal of 22 workers.

Workers of two closed factories also staged demonstration on Sunday.

Police were deployed in front of two closed factories.
