Sangsad Bhaban, Sept 7 (UNB) - Speaker Abdul Hamid on Monday said Parliament will discuss in time the report of the all-party parliamentary probe committee about the irregularities of former Speaker Jamir Uddin Sircar.

Earlier, taking the floor on a point of order, Jatiya Party lawmaker Mujib-ul-Haque Chunnu raised the issue of discussion of the parliamentary probe committee report.

Chunnu, also a member of the all-party probe body, said the committee has already placed its report in parliament.

“You assured us that the discussion will be held in the third session.

But the issue was not included in the order of the day today (Monday),” he said.

In reply, the Speaker said the probe report has become a property of the House and a discussion on it will be held in time.

The parliamentary body that investigated irregularities during the tenure of former Speaker Jamir Uddin Sircar placed the probe report on July 9 in parliament.

The probe committee recommended the House to cancel Sircar’s MP status and recover around Tk 2.50 crore from him as well as from the then deputy speaker Akhtar Hamid Siddiqui and the then chief whip Khandaker Delwar Hossain that was taken illegally as medical bills, additional fuel allowances and other facilities.

It also recommended taking legal action against the then Speaker, deputy speaker and chief whip.
