News - Mysterious disease kills 5, attacks 6 in Lalmonirhat
Lalmonirhat, Feb 2 (UNB) - Five people, including three minors, died and six others fell seriously sick after being attacked by an unknown disease at different villages in Hatibandha upazila on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The deceased were identified as Aronya, 8, son of Ashok Chandra, Sajjad Hossain, 3, son of Belal Hossain of Tongbhanga village, Razzaq, 32, son of Abbas Ali of Gendukuri village, Sabina, 6,
daughter of Mokbul Hossain of Saniazan village and Akbar Ali, 25, of Barai village.

Affected other six patients were admitted to the Upazila Health Complex.

Dr Bimol Roy of the upazila Health complex said that the patients were attacked by fever at first then the body become cold with vomiting.

Of the patients, Aronya, Sazzad Hossain and Razzaq were first taken to the upazila health complex and then shifted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital as their condition deteriorated.

Finally they were rushed to Dhaka where they died on Tuesday night at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital.

Besides, Sabina died at her village home on Tuesday night while Akbar this (Wednesday) morning.

Dr Jahangir Alam, district civil surgeon confirmed the deaths. He also informed that a special medical team has been formed to tackle the situation.
