2 killed by drowning in Munshiganj and Sunamganj

Dhaka, Mar 31 (UNB) - Two people drowned in separate incidents in Minshiganj and Sunamganj districts Thursday.

In Munshiganj, a man drowned as a bus plunged into a pond at Rarhikhal on Dohar-Srinagar highway in Srinagar upazila.

The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.

Witness said, a Dhaka bound bus of Nagar Paribahan carrying 50 passengers fell into a pond as its driver lost control over the steering. Most of the passengers managed to come out from the drowned
bus while one drowned.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Srinagar thana said, the body of a man was recovered while another man was found alive inside the bus.

Fire fighters are trying to rescue him from the drowned bus.

In Sunamganj, a young man drowned when a boat sank in Rokti river in Biswambharpur upazila.

The deceased was identified as Didul Mia,20, son of Abdullah of Shaktiarkhola village in Biswambharpur upazila.

Sources said, Didul Mia was sleeping in the boat in Rajnagar village with two other persons named Anwarul and Ashadul.

At night water entered into the boat and it sank with Didul. Anwarul and Ashadul managed to escape.
