Dhaka, Apr 12 (UNB) - A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Dhaka University (DU) and Shimane University of Japan aimed at establishing and promoting academic exchange and research programmes between the two institutions.

DU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique signed the MoU on Tuesday (Apr 12) at his residence office while president of Shimane University Prof. Hiroki Yamamoto signed it on April 5 in Japan on behalf of their respective institutions.

Under the MoU, both the institutions will promote the exchange of students, faculty, research, and academic culture aimed at contributing to the improvement of the educational and academic
cultures of both the countries and also try to promote greater friendship and international understanding, goodwill and peace.

The MoU will remain in effect for five years and to be renewable through negotiations within six months of expiration, said a release of DU.
