Dhaka, May 4 (UNB) - The three-day seafood fair, world’s biggest show for seafood titled ‘European Seafood Exposition’ (ESE-2011) that began on Tuesday in Brussels, the capital of Belgian, gained today momentum with the presence of a huge crowd.

This year, Bangladesh Pavilion (located at Hall 7, Booth 1553 of Brussels Expo) is hosting from around 30 Bangladeshi producers, exporters and buying agents.

ESE is the largest fish fair in the world being held for the last 35 years, according to a message received here on Wednesday.

Commerce Minister Faruk Khan inaugurated the Bangladesh pavilion yesterday in presence of Ambassador of Bangladesh in Belgium Ismat Jahan, European Commission delegation Dr Genovera Hernandez Uriz, officials of Bangladesh Mission in Brussels, and Export Promotion Bureau officials and members of the Bangladesh Frozen Foods Exporters Association.

Important frozen food producers and buying house owners were also present during inauguration. A remarkable number of foreign buyers and visitors were present during the opening ceremony.

In the opening speech Faruk Khan mentioned the government’s recent initiatives for the quick development of the fisheries sector and hoped for business communities’ cooperation.

A two-man delegation of Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) is participating in the exposition, the world's largest seafood show.

Members of Bangladesh Frozen Foods Exporters Association (BFFEA) are displaying an array of sea fish, especially shrimp, popularly known as 'black gold'. A total of 30 producers, exporters and buyers are participating in the expo from Bangladesh. Nearly 100 countries from all over the world are participating in the expo.
