Dhaka, May 28 (UNB)- Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the National Vitamin ‘A’ Plus campaign, 2011 at her official residence Ganobhaban on Saturday morning.

Under the programme all children aged between 12-59 months (1-5 years) would be fed red color ‘A’ capsule across the country while in five districts-Comilla, Moulavibazar, Gopalganj, Barisal and Satkhria and in Rajshahi and Barisal city corporations areas , children aged 6-11 years would be given blue color ‘A’ capsule on Sunday.

At the same time, all children aged 24-59 months (2-5 years) would be fed worm removing tablet.

Public Health Nutrition Institution under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Affairs is launching the campaign.

The Prime Minister opened the campaign feeding capsule and table to some children at Ganobhaban.

Addressing the function, the Prime Minister requested parents, family members, teachers and people of all walks of life to inform others about the campaign to make it a success.

The Prime Minister said healthy children would bring healthy future. She urged the university and college students to make people conscious about the campaign.

The Prime Minister said Vitamin A plus would protect the children from the curse of blindness.

Hasina further requested people to play active role so that not a single child is left unattended.

Health Minister Dr AFM Ruhal Haq, Health Adviser to the Prime Minister Syed Mudasser Ali and other officials in the ministry and various departments were present.

All vaccination centers would remain open from 8 am to 4pm on Sunday.

There would be eight temporary centers at every ward areas in the villages while vaccination centers would be opened in city corporation areas considering number of population.

The authorities concerned may open an additional vaccination center considering geographical and demographic situation.

Additional three other vaccination centers would be opened in each upazila to ensure vaccination of children who would be on traveling.

Additional centers would be set up at city corporation and municipality areas at the bus, railway stations, ferry ghats and launch terminals at per necessity.
