Man dies of heart attack after slaughtering great-grandfather

Munshiganj, June 20 (UNB)- A mentally unbalanced man died of a heart attack after slaughtering his great-grandfather Monday morning. The incident took place at Serajabad village in Tongibari upazila.

OC of Tongibari thana Abdullah said that the slain great-grandfather, Faizur Rahman Halder, 80, had gone to see his daughter in Serajabad village. After offering Fazr prayer he went to sleep. At that time Rahim Mia, 50, the daughter’s son, allegedly slaughtered him with a sharp knife.

Immediately after the incident, Rahim Mia too died.

The OC said Rahim was known to be mentally ill. What triggered the incident could not be ascertained immediately.

The body of Faizur has been sent for an autopsy, in relation to a case filed over the incident.
