12 vehicle hijackers arrested in Kurigram

Kurigram, July 27 (UNB) - A night coach driver caught 12 alleged vehicle hijackers at Damdama in Rangpur district and handed them over to Kurigram Sadar thana on Tuesday night.

The arrestees were identified as Sohel Rana, 25, of Rangpur, Emran, 23, of Comilla, Shaon, 21, Sabur Alam, 20, Farook, 20, Al Amin, 20, Jony, 21, Sujan, 20, Zahidul, 22, Delwar, 19, Emran Hossain, 26, and Rumon, 21, of Dinajpur.

Police said the hijackers in guise of passengers got on Dhaka-bound passenger night coach `Kurigram Express` in Kurigram town at about 9:30pm.

Suspecting their activities in the bus, driver of`Kurigram Express` changed his route at Damdama in Rangpur and tactfully caught 12 vehicle lifters and returned to Kurigram at 11pm.

He handed over the 12 vehicle lifters to Kurigram Sadar police station.

During interrogation the arrestees confessed that one Rana of Dinajpur hired them to hijack the bus.
