News - People’s involvement in health budget monitoring stressed
Kishoreganj, July 29 (UNB) - Speakers at a seminar on Friday asked local people to involve themselves in budget monitoring activities of country’s health sector in a bid to ensuring the development of the health services especially for the rural people.

The seminar on “Water, Sanitation and Hygiene” was held at Chhoysuti union parishad office in Kuliarchar upazila. Development Organization of the Rural Poor (DORP), an NGO, arranged the seminar in a bid to make the village people aware of the sanitation, health and hygiene aspects.

Kuliarchar upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) Shah Alam Mukul was in the chair while additional secretary of LGRD ministry Syed Mahbub Hassan spoke at the seminar as chief guest.

The ‘DORP’ is implementing the “Health village: Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Budget Monitoring Project” with the assistance of the Netherland based organization ‘SIMAVI’.

The DORP has been implementing the health budget monitoring activities in six upazilas of six districts in the country. It has been working in Ramgati of Laxmipur district, Fakirhat of Bagerhat district, Barguna sadar, Bhuapur of Tangail district, Sirajganj sadar and Kuliarchar upazila of Kishorganj district.
