Shab-e-Qadar to be observed on August 27

Dhaka, Aug 01 (UNB) - Holy Lailatul Qadar, the night of divine blessing and benediction, will be observed on August 27 as the moon of Holy Ramadan was sighted in the country tonight (Monday).

The announcement came from a National Moon Sighting Committee meeting held at Islamic Foundation on Monday night.

Presided over by State Minister for Religious Affairs Md Shahjahan Mia, chairman of the Moon Sighting Committee, the meeting reviewed reports on moon sighting to ascertain commencement of Ramadan in 1432 Hijri.

Religious Affairs Secretary Kazi Habibul Awal, Information Secretary Hedayetullah Al Mamun, Director General of Islamic Foundation Shamim Mohammad Afjal, Principal Information Officer Harun ur Rashid, Director General of BTV Kazi Abu Zafar Siddiqi, religious affairs joint secretary Kamal Uddin Ahmed, Khatib of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque Maulana Mohammad Salah Uddin and Deputy Director of Meteorological Department Shah Alam were, among others, present, an official release said.
