Bandarban, Aug 9 (UNB) - Road communication between here and rest of the country came to a halt from Tuesday noon as most of local roads went under water.
Local pourashava chairman Javed Reza said low-lying areas here were inundated and three shelter centres have been opened for providing shelter to the affected people.
Plying of river crafts have also been snapped from morning due to rise in water level of two rivers--Sangu and Matamuhuri.
Pourashava authorities through loudspeakers today asked the people living on hill side to shift to safer places apparently to avoid land slide.
Another report from Gopalganj said: Flashflood caused by incessant rainfall in last five days inundated over 2000 houses, 50 roads and 500 fish enclosures in the district.
Standing crops on thousands of acres of land also went under water.
