PM places wreath at Bangabandhu’s grave in Tungipara

Tungipara (Gopalganj), Aug 15 (UNB) - Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina placed wreath at the grave of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman here this (Sunday) morning, paying homage to the architect of Bangladesh’s independence.

Hasina, as the party president, placed another wreath at the grave on behalf of Bangladesh Awami League.

A smartly turned out contingent drawn from the three services gave an armed salute as the Prime Minister placed wreath at the Bangabandhu’s grave.

After placing the wreath, the Prime Minister with a pale face stood in solemn silence for some time as the last post was played on the bugle.

She offered fateha beside the grave while a special munajat was offered seeking divine blessings for eternal peace of the departed soul of Bangabandhu as well as welfare of the countrymen and world humanity.

Sheikh Rehana, the younger daughter of Bangabandhu, Awami League presidium member Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim, general secretary Syed Ashraful Islam, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid, Labour and Employment Minister Engr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Industries Minister Dilip Barua, PM’s adviser Prof. Dr. Syed Modasser Ali, Foreign Minister Dr Dipu Moni, Communications Minister Syed Abul Hossain, members of parliament including Sheikh Helal and Barrister Fazle Noor Taposh, presidium members and leaders of Awami League, chiefs of the three services, PM’s Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad and high civil and military officials present.

A silent and calm atmosphere was prevailing at the time. Hundreds of people from across the country converged at Tungipara to show their highest respect to Bangabandhu, the architect of the nation.

Later, different front organizations of Awami League and people from all strata placed wreaths at Bangabandhu’s grave paying homage to the great leader.

A Milad Mahfil was held at the mazar premises on the occasion.
