News - Parliament session resumes Thursday
Dhaka, Aug 16 (UNB) -- The tenth session of the ninth parliament resumes on Thursday amid uncertainty about the return of the boycotting main opposition BNP to the House.

President Zillur Rahman summoned the parliament session on August 3 as per article 72(1) of the constitution.

Bangladesh Betar will broadcast the session, including the inaugural one, live, said a press release on Tuesday.

It said the session will convene at 11:00am on Thursday. The budget session of parliament was prorogued on July 7, after transacting businesses for 30 working days.

The most important feature of the last session was passing the 15th amendment bill on June 30, dropping the provision for the non-party caretaker government.

The main opposition BNP and its allies had abstained from the House throughout the session.

A total of 49 hours 13 minutes were spent on budget discussions, 46 hours and 51 minutes on deliberations on the new budget and 2 hours 22 minutes on the supplementary budget.
