Dhaka, Aug 17 (UNB) - Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) called upon the government to form the 8th wage board for the journalists and employees working in newspapers and news agencies.

DUJ leaders made the demand at an emergency meeting of DUJ held on Wednesday.

The DUJ leaders expressed their surprise as the concerned authorities did not take any initiative despite the Prime Minister’s directive to start process for formation of the wage board.

The journalists are now finding it tough to maintain their livelihood due to price spiral of essentials, they said.

DUJ general secretary Abu Jafar Surja, former general secretary Omar Faruk, sports and cultural affairs secretary Rezaul Karim Reza, among others, addressed the meeting, which was chaired by DUJ vice president Enamur Reza Dipu.
