Shortest parliament session prorogued

Sangsad Bhaban, Aug 25 (UNB) -The 10th session of the present parliament was prorogued on Thursday, after transacting businesses for four working days.

This was the shortest session of the 9th parliament.

“Although the shortest, it was significant as some current issues were discussed during this session,’’ Speaker Abdul Hamid Advocate said.

Before reading out the prorogation order of the President, the Speaker requested the opposition to return to the next session, constructively criticise the government and fulfill the aspiration of their electorates.

The 10th session began on August 18. Out of 13 bills placed during the session, two were passed while one private member bill was sent to the committee on private members bill.
