Dhaka, Aug 29 (UNB)-Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Forum president Barrister Rafiqul Islam Mia termed the death of Advocate MU Ahmed as “state terrorism” and warned of a greater action program to be announced after the Eid to protest the death caused allegedly by torture in police custody.

He issued the threat of a stir at a protest meeting held at the Supreme Court Bar Association.

Advocate Nitai Roy Chowdhury, Golam kibria,Barrister Ruhul Quddus Kajol, Barrister Nasiruddin Ahmed Asim, Advocate Fahima Nasrin Munni and Jamil Aktar Elahi, among others, addressed the meeting.

Barriser Rafiqul Islami Mia asked the Attorney General to explain how police bailed out M U Ahmed when the High Court had refused him bail.

He said the State Minister for Law and the Attorney General had bailed other lawyers by staging a drama. Had they staged the drama 72 hours before, MU Ahmed would not have to die.

He said the trial for the murder of MU Ahmed must be held in this country.

Forum’s secretary general Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon said MU Ahmed was murdered because of the 15th amendment of the Constitution.

He said M U Ahmed was not in the scene during the chaos in the High Court. The trial of the killers of MU Ahmed must be held one day.

Human rights activists Advocate Fahim Nasrin Munni demanded the resignation of the Home Minister and the Attorney Gneral taking the responsibility for the death of MU Ahmed.

The meeting also demanded cancellation of the bar membership of Justice Shamsuddin Ahmed Chowdhury and the Attorney general.
