Chittagong, Oct 3 (UNB) - Former Home Secretary Omar Farooq told the CID investigators today that whatever he had done in dealing with the 2002 Chittagong arms haul were all at the directives of the government.

According to the investigation sources, Farooq was calm and cool during the 8-hour long interrogation by a 3-member team led by ASP Moniruzzaman which has undertaken fresh investigation into the arms haul case.

During the lengthy interrogation, at times he named Lutuzzaman Babar, former state minister for Home Affairs.

The former Home Secretary has frankly told the role of the high level inquiry committee headed by him that was formed immediately after the arms haul. He was also asked when he came to know about the arms haul and the role of the high-ups in the government about it, sources said.

Farooq avoided the newsmen when he came out of the interrogation in the evening.

Ten truck-load of arms were seized when unloading from trawler at CUFL jetty on April 1, 2002.
