LAS VEGAS, Oct 16 (AP/UNB) - George Lopez says he will return to TV soon.

The comedian told The Associated Press Saturday in Las Vegas that his third HBO standup special will air next year.

Lopez also says he hopes to star in a new sitcom where he will again play a father and husband.

He says the show is untitled but he hopes to see it on TV soon.

Lopez's starred as a family man in the sitcom "George Lopez" and most recently hosted "Lopez Tonight" on TBS until it was suddenly cancelled in August.

Lopez says it is unfortunate his show was cancelled because there are few minority hosts on late-night television.

His viewership declined heavily in its second year, from an average of 910,000 nightly viewers to 391,000.
