Dhaka, Oct 29 (UNB) - Dr. Kazi Deen Mohammad, eminent linguist and former Professor of Bangla Department of Dhaka University, died of old age complications at city’s Labaid Hospital Friday midnight.
Born in a noble Muslim family at Rupshi village in Narayanganj on February 1, 1927 he had joined the Bangla department of DU as a lecturer on November 1, 1951.
He was also Director of Bangla Academy during 1967-69, said a press release.
Meanwhile, DU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Arefin Siddique in a condolence message expressed his deep shock at the death of Deen Mohammad.
He also prayed for the peace of the departed soul and conveyed his sympathy to the bereaved family members.
