Tangail businessman gunned down; 2 injured

Tangail, Nov 01 (UNB) - Miscreants spayed bullets on a businessman leaving him dead on the spot and two other people injured by bullets in the town tonight (Tuesday).

The deceased was identified as Shafiqur Rahman Dwip, 30, a businessman and owner of `City Electric` shop, located at Victoria Road.

Witnesses said a gang of 5/6 armed assailants stormed into the shop and sprayed bullets on him and his younger brother Shayem, 20, and his friend Rubel, leaving Dwip dead on the spot and the other two people injured in bullets at 8 pm.

Locals rescued Shayem and Rubel and admitted them to Tangail General Hospital.

Tangail thana police said the slain businessman was the son of Fazlur Rahman, a resident of Sabalia area of the town.

The motive of the murder could not be ascertained.
