Dhaka, Nov 13 (UNB) - World Diabetes Day 2011 will be observed in the country on Monday as elsewhere in the world, aiming to create awareness among people about the preventable disease.
This year’s theme of the day is ‘Diabetes kills one person every eight seconds. Act on diabetes, now’.
Bangladesh Diabetes Association has taken various programmes, including rally, free treatment and discussion, on the occasion.
Finance Minister AMA Muhith will be present at a discussion at BIRDEM auditorium in the city as the chief guest.
Muhith is also expected to inaugurate ‘Professor Farida Huq Laboratory’ at the Department of Microbiology of BIRDEM.
The World Diabetes Day is observed on November 14 every year.
