Rajshahi, Nov 15 (UNB) - A local leader of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, accused of issuing threat on the life of Prime Minister, was arrested from Bangalpara in Bagmara upazila on Monday night.

The arrested was identified as Obaidullah, 38, district unit publicity secretary of Jamaat and son of Alhaj Abdullah of Godagari upazila of the district.

Addressing a press briefing here on Tuesday, RAB officials said that they received secret information that Obaidullah was hiding at the residence of his relative Moksed.

As per the tip-off, members of RAB-5 arrested the Jamaat leader.

Addressing a road march programme, led by Khaleda Zia, of BNP at Godagari on November 19, Obaidullah threatened to create another ‘August 15’ apparently issuing threat on the life of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

A local Awami League leader filed a case with Godagari thana.

Earlier, 15 Jamaat-Shibir activists were arrested in this connection.

A RAB press release said Mohammad Obaidullah in his speech threatened to kill Prime Minister and create anarchic situation in the country.
