2 dacoits lynched in Naogaon

Naogaon, Nov 16 (UNB) - Two suspected dacoits were lynched by a mob at Lodipur in Dhamoirhat upazila on Tuesday night.

The deceased were identified as Shahjahan Ali, 40, son of Mostafizur Rahman of Debipur village and Fazlur Rahman Bhedu, 45, son of Tosiruddin of Bondhe Sahar village in the upazila.

Locals said a gang of armed highwaymen numbering 8/10 putting barricade on Lodipur road stopped an Agradiganj bound bus from the district town at around 10:30pm.

Later, they looted cash, mobile phone sets and other valuables from the passengers.

Hearing the hue and cry of the passengers local people rushed to the spot and caught two of the muggers while others managed to flee.

Later, they gave the robbers a good beating, leaving them critically injured.

Police, on information, rescued the dacoits and admitted them to Nojipur health center in Patnitola upazila where the attending doctors declared them dead.

A case was filed in this connection.
