UK to provide 311 million pound to Bangladesh for development in health sector

Dhaka, Nov 16 (UNB) - The United Kingdom (UK) will provide financial assistance worth 311 million pound to Bangladesh for five years from 2011-12 for development in health sector.

Stephen O’Brien, MP, the UK’s Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for International Development, said this when he called on Health Minister Dr. AFM Ruhal Haque at his Secretariat office on Wednesday.

During the meeting, Stephen requested the minister to put emphasis on the development of nutrition condition in Bangladesh.

Standard of nutrition is a big challenge for Bangladesh, he said, adding that UK is ready to extend the hands of cooperation in this regard.
