Primary terminal exams begin Wednesday

News - Primary terminal exams begin Wednesday
Dhaka, Nov 22 (UNB) - The Primary Terminal Examinations, 2011 for the students of general and madrasah education will begin across the country on Wednesday with some 26.37 lakh students participating in the exams.

The Directorate of Primary Education (DPE) announced the schedule at a press conference here on Tuesday.

According to the schedule, the examinations of six subjects in general primary and ebtedayee will be held over six days from 11:00am to 1:00pm.

Mathematics exam for both the general primary and madrasah would be held on November 23 and while that of Bangla for both the categories will take place the following day.

English exam for both the categories will be on November 27 while Paribesh Parichiti Biggyan for general and Paribesh Parichiti Samaj and Paribesh Parichiti Biggyan of madrasah students would be held on November 28.

Paribesh Parichiti Samaj for general and Arabic for madrasah students will be held on November 29, while Religion for general and Qura’n and Tajbid and Akayed and Fikha for madrasah students on November 30, the schedule said.

Some 4,003 physically-challenged children, 46,665 students under Reaching Out of School Children project and 632 from foreign centers will take part in the examinations.

The number of scholarships under talent pool has been raised to 22,000 from 20,000 while under general category to 33,000 from 30,000.

Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr Afsarul Ameen told reporters that the government has been working to ensure the enrolment of all children eligible for going to school. The enrolment rate of children is 99.68 percent at present, he said.

He said all preparations have been completed to hold the examinations peacefully in 6,176 centers, including eight outside the country.

State Minister of Primary and Mass Education Ministry Motaher Hossain, secretary Awal Majumder and director general of Directorate of Primary Education Shymal Kanti, among others were present.
