Dhaka, Nov 28 (UNB) - Muggers snatched cash and valuables from a cop after stabbing him, leaving him severely injured in front of the Gate No-3 of capital`s Rajarbagh Police Line on Monday.

Police and witnesses said Constable Abdul Motaleb was waiting in front of the Gate-3 to catch a Hazrat Shahjalal Airport-bound transport at 4-30 am.

He was supposed to return to turbulent African state Sudan to join the UN Peace-keeping Mission.

All on a sudden a gang of 4/5 snatchers, equipped with lethal arms, attacked and him and tried to take away his belongings at gun point. As he tried to resist the gangsters they indiscriminately knifed him and safely made their ways with booties under the eyes of cops at the police headquarters.

Police said they mugged Tk 13,000 and US $ 50 in cash from the hapless constables and other valuable items.

He was first admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and then shifted to Rajarbagh Police Line Hospital.
