Ctg businessman mugged & receives bullet wound; Mob beats 2 muggers

Chittagong, Dec 04 (UNB) - Muggers shot at a businessman and snatched away about Tk 50,000 from him, leaving him severely injured near Naval Avenue at Noor Ahmed Road in the port city on Sunday.

The victim is Pranab Das, a gold trader and the owner of Apurbo Jewelers, a jewelry shop located at VIP Market at Kazir Dewri.

Police and witnesses said a gang of 6 snatchers intercepted Pranab at Noor Ahmed Road, on his way to the VIP Market by a rickshaw at 2 pm.

The gangsters fired several rounds of shots at him as he attempted to resist them leaving him injured by bullet.

The muggers snatch away Tk 100,000 and 2 tolas of gold ornament from him.

Hearing gunfire locals chased the muggers and caught two of them along with Tk 52,500 while the rest four snatchers managed to escape along with Tk 47,500.

The angry mob beat the two bandits black and blue and later handed them over to police who rushed the victim and the two snatchers to Chittagong Medical College Hospital.

Witness Sajib, a student of Technical College, said he heard at least 5 rounds of gunfire when the businessman came under attack by the armed muggers.
