SEOUL, DEC 13 (AP/UNB) - South Korean President Lee Myung-bak is vowing to spend more money on better coast guard equipment after an officer was allegedly stabbed to death by a Chinese fisherman.
Officials say one South Korean officer was killed and another wounded Monday after boarding a Chinese boat suspected of illegally fishing in South Korean waters.
Lee told a Cabinet meeting Tuesday that South Korea will get tough on illegal Chinese fishermen.
The presidential office says Lee's possible visit to China next month may be reconsidered.
South Korean right-wing protesters are also planning a rally in front of the Chinese Embassy in Seoul.
Police say they've asked for a warrant to extend the detainment of the captain of the Chinese boat.
