
Cox’s Bazar, Jan 9 (UNB) - Some 18 Malaysia bound Myanmar nationals were arrested at Shahparir Dip in Teknaf upazila early Monday.
The identities of the arrestees could not be known immediately.
Acting on a tip-off that a group of Myanmar citizens gathered at the Shahparir Dip to go to Malaysia illegally for jobs, a team of Coast Guard raided the area and arrested them at around 4 am.
Later, the arrestees were sent back to Myanmar, according to the district DB office.
Earlier, police arrested 15 Malaysia bound Myanmar job seekers from the same area on Saturday night and handed over them to Teknaf police station.
The arrested men were going to Malaysia in search of jobs illegally paying handsome amount of money to traffickers, police said quoting arrestees.
