3 climate projects approved

Dhaka, Jan 15 (UNB) - The Ministry of Environment and Forests on Sunday approved three projects, involving Tk 28.38 crore, to cope with the adverse impacts of climate change.

The 15th meeting of the Climate Change Trust Board under the ministry approved the projects with Minister for Environment and Forests Dr Hasan Mahmud in the chair.

Bangladesh Water Development Board will implement the Kaliganga River Embankment Protection Project at Tk 14.7 crore in Dhaka and Kushiyara River Embankment Protection Poject at Tk 12 crore in Sunamganj.

Khagrachhari Pourasava will implement the remaining project at a cost of TK 1.67 crore to make the municipality as a climate resilient town.

Foreign Minister Dr Dipu Moni, Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury, Food and Disaster Management Minister Dr Abdur Razzaque, Health Minister Dr AFM Ruhal Haque, Water Resources Minister Ramesh Chandra Sen, chairman of Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) Dr Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad, Environment and Forests secretary Misbah Ul Alam and Buet pro-vice chancellor Prof Dr Habibur Rahman were, among others, present at the meeting.
