
Narsingdi, Jan 17 (UNB) - A court here on Tuesday granted bail to Salauddin Ahmed Bachchu, the younger brother of Posts and Telecommunications Minister Rajiuddin Ahmed Raju, in Narsingdi municipality mayor Lokman Hossain murder case.
Dr Mohammad Shahjahan, District and Sessions Judge passed the order in the afternoon.
Bachchu, the prime accused in the case, was produced before the court of Narsingdi Chief Judicial Magistrate Nitai Chandra Saha today on conclusion of his one-day remand.
The five accused- Bachchu, Mamun, Hiron, Golam Moin and Amir Hossain Amu surrendered before the court on January 15.
The court granted a one-day remand to Bachchu, Hiron and Mamun and ordered sending the two others -Golam Moin and Amir Hossain to jail.
Lokman, a two-time gold medalist as the best mayor of Narsingdi municipality, was shot by a masked group inside the district Awami League office on Sadar road in the town on November 1, 2011.
He succumbed to his injuries hours after he was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
His brother Kamruzzaman filed a case against 14 people, including Bachchu and Narsingdi town Awami League president Montaz Uddin Bhiuyan.
